The 'outhouse' ('backhouse', 'caibo' or 'biffy') is a vanishing piece of Canadian architectural history.

Rural residents seem to prefer the convenience of indoor flush toilets over a chilly outhouse on a snowy night and cottagers are installing septic systems & the lastest in self-composting toilets at an alarming rate.

This model is a monument to the past. It represents a typical Ontario cottage outhouse, but would be equally at home on rural homestead.
